While this poem wasn't my favorite poem from the website 10 Wonderful Children’s Poets You Should Know, it was a great example of how we can take the bones of a great poem (or sentence or story) and use it to guide our own practice at becoming authors.
This is just a small section of the poem, but here is how you can make it your own. Try filling your own words in the blanks, and make small changes as it fits your topic. Post your poem on our Padlet! __________________________(Title: name of animal/insect) We're _________________________________________. (animal/insect) we're _____________ (ing verb) in ________(shape/adjectives/noun). ________________(color/body part/physical description). We're ______________ and __________________ (ing verbs) as if we were on/in ______________________(location). We never get _____________________(feeling) from ___________________ and ________________ (ing verbs) and ___________________ and ___________________ (ing verbs). My example: Ladybugs We're ladybugs we're flying in circles, spotted wings in sets of two. We're crawling and circling as if we were on the hunt for the perfect landing. We never get bored from flying and swarming and looking and landing. |
