I am currently reading Emmy and the Rats in the Belfry. One sentence made me stop to think:
The black rat leaped from the floor to the stool lid to the tank. His hind feet scrabbled on the roll of toilet paper and sent it spinning as he clawed his way up to the bathroom countertop. (pg 2-3)
All I could think about when I saw "toilet paper" was my current supply and did I have enough. There are many words that I will think of differently now, probably for years. Here is my word list:
masks distance essential quarantine bats China toilet paper hand sanitizer
Prompt 1: Choose a word from my list or one of your own and write how your thoughts of the word has changed since February. A cool way to do this would be with diamond poetry. Click here for a handout to help if you choose to create a diamond word poem. (Hint: A participle is a word ending in "ing".) See my example of a paragraph and diamond poem on Padlet.
