Loser by Jerry SpinelliLoser is a coming of age story that takes us on the main character's journey from first grade to middle school. I fell in love with Zinkoff from the start as he is a carefree child who loved life so much he didn't even notice he wasn't doing things like most people, or when he was being teased by others. He runs into his first moment of realization when his 2nd grade teacher can't see past his terrible handwriting or bad grades. But it isn't until the 4th and 5th grade when Zinkoff "gets discovered". It is then that students no longer accept the ways he is a little different, and Zinkoff realizes he is such a "loser" he can't even think of a best friend to write on his paper. Little did he know Field Day is when he makes his official mark as a loser. But when a child goes missing, Zinkoff does something no other child does in the community to help find her. Will that be his turning point? Or will he be labeled a loser forever?
