This is a new series in our library. I was surprised to find myself cracking up at the conversation between Phoebe and her beloved unicorn. I can see this type of humor being enjoyed by our students, and I loved the surprise ending pages with art, recipes, and a page from the original Alice in Wonderland that talked about unicorns!
This book is about a deaf girl who learns about a whale who sings at a decibel range about 10 below where most whales sing. This causes the whales to reject him and he is alone. When Iris finds about about it, she emails the scientists who are tracking him and asks, “What if he’s deaf?” This starts her quest to create a song he can hear at his decibel range. But how will she ever get close enough to play it for him IF she can even make it?
